Postdoc position available in Host-Parasite interaction

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate to investigate the function of kinases that the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum secretes into the host cell. The key biological question of this project is how the malaria parasite regulates remodelling of its host cell. A group of parasite kinases is secreted into the host cell and we hypothesize that they play a key role. We have previously generated a conditional gene knock-out method that is employed to target each of the secreted parasite kinases. Using conditional kinase KO lines we then identify targets and pathways regulated by these kinases using quantitative phosphoproteomics. Biochemical characterization of kinase targets and cell biological assays to identify phenotypes associated with these kinases are also employed.
